I guess this could qualify as "equipment".
I need a new head lamp. Only need red. USB charge. Lithium. Multiple brightness's is a "want".
Hard to find what I'm looking for so this post is a last resort.
Thanks,
Jim

I believe all requirements are met, rechargeable, USB, red only dimmable... 8-)

I have the handheld version of this (red light LED) and you need to know going in that these lights are very, very bright. So much so, that I need to put a dimming filter over it just to get the illumination low enough to be usable for astro work.

This definitely fits the requirements. However, I didn't mention it but, I'm hoping to find something with a single, flexible strap. The light I've been using for years is a Zebra Light and is perfect except for battery usage and they took it off the market. I've noticed that it gets really hot sometimes and I suspect that it became a safety issue.

Okey dokey,
Red only, dimmable, USB charge, single head band. Not nearly as bright as the first one. Also has motion sensor activation. I might buy one to replace my current one. 8-)

OR, get a white light that meets your reqs and then put this over it till you get the illumination level you need.

Although, Chris, that wide-beam sucker looks pretty cool. Except the very first descriptor bullet says, "SUPER BRIGHT". So maybe not.

Thanks Chris. That might work.
JayTee, I think I'd like to try that film on the external monitor that won't change with my night light settings.
Thank you,
Jim

Found a review on it where someone did a lux test on it. I looked up the definition of lux, 1 lux=1 lumen per square meter, or so sayeth Wikipedia.
The high setting seems to yield 100 lux in a non-laboratory setting with the low setting being about 25 lux.
That matches up with another review where someone mentioned 110 lumens output.

Someone also put up a video of it, in one of the first reviews, cyclng through all six modes. The low one looked pretty dim.

I researched lumens and 100 lumens is about the equivalent of a 12 watt incandescent light bulb.

Now I am seriously considering it to replace mine. I have to cycle through low white then green to get to red on mine. And if I push the wrong button, bright white comes on.

Ouch!

I purchased the Rechargeable Red Light Headlamp, Red Light 230°Wide Beam with Motion Sensor 6 Modes Red LED.
Used it tonight. Very satisfied. The lowest comes on first and is just the minimum I need for getting around the area.
After it's been on a few seconds it can be turned off without cycling through other brightnesses.
In the higher brightnesses, it creates a central higher instensity area rather than a wider, uniform intensity. Not enough of an issue to be a problem for me.

If I may add, please ONLY use the head band red light by yourself. I have been blinded at many observing sessions by a newbie that was wearing the red headband. It shines right in the eye of the person you are talking to. You might as well use a bright white flashlight. We are blinded for several minutes before our night vision returns. Now this applies to people actually observing through an eyepiece.

Yes! Thank you. I have to be careful when someone comes to talk to me that I don't look directly at them.

I kind of lean in a different direction from everyone else. I switched all of my battery driven devices to rechargeable batteries. I haven't had to replace a battery years. A set of batteries can go all night without recharging. I purchase red headlights in the bargain bin at my local hardware store. I keep several hanging in my warm room. When guests join me I loan them a headlight in place of the white lights they brought and tell them about night vision.
