I just received the Astronomical League's Observer Award

#1

Post by jrkirkham »

:telescopewink:

A few days ago I reported that I finished the AL Solar System Program. That was the last program of five I needed for the Observer Award in their progression. I completed the Constellation Hunter (Northern) Observing Program, the Messier Observing Program, The Lunar Observing Program, The Galileo Observing Program (which was the most fun), and the Solar System Observing Program. When I received the award last week I joked about being a turtle with a telescope because it took me so long. Actually, during that time I had two eye surgeries, one left me with some retina damage, and was working two jobs (60 hrs./wk.). When I semi-retired I bought a SkyShed POD, a new telescope, and started using a camera more. Those were good investments.

Hi Rob. Congratulations on receiving the Astronomical League's Observer Award. As Rod Serling used to say on the old Twilight Zone TV show; "Last stop on a long journey". And despite the health and work handicaps your persistence finally paid off. Thanks for sharing this great award news with us on here Rob and keep looking up.
