We have had some clear cold night here over the last week (OK, -8C, I can't compete with some in the coldness stakes
).
Last Wednesday I decided to have another go at the Rosette nebula. I also wanted to have a play with some front ends as my licence to
APP has expired. Stacking and DBE in PixInsight are not my favourite processes. So I tried a couple of freebies ASTAP and GraXpert.
The interface of ASTAP (availble here
https://www.hnsky.org/astap.htm) is not the simplest [Hint: Click on the big Sigma button to open the stacking options] all becomes clearer then - more options than you could wave a stick at however. GraXpert (
https://www.graxpert.com/) on the other hand is an inuitive replacement for DBE and I like the simplicty of the UX.
Both work well and the resultant image was opened for prcessing in
PI SPCC, BXT, NXT and the Script version of GHS (for this it worked better than the process version), followed by HDR Mutiscale Transorm: finally dropped into Affinty2 for tweaking and signature.
I decided to bring out the floral side of the Rosette as much as I could.
Comments welcome.
