Kathy goes over to the dark side - Jupiter

I got my gear all set up to record the Mars occultation on Wednesday night. It doesn't look like that is going to happen, because of weather, but I did want to get the finder and the focus position dialed in. So I played with Jupiter a bit.

This is the best 10% of 5000 frames, with a C-11 at f/10 and an ASI120MC. Captured in SharpCap and processes in Autostakkert!

A very nice image Kathy.

I'm conflicted about setting up for the occultation. If I set up early so I'm prepared then I will definitely get weathered out. If, on the other hand, I do no prep then I stand a good chance of seeing the event even though I won't be in a position to record it - but at least I'll see it.

What to do, what to do?

My weather picture for Wednesday evening. 93% cloud cover and a 40% chance of snow - not looking good.. :(

When I read the title about going to the dark side I thought you had bought a refractor!
Nice image though :)

Whoa, that would be really dark! I was referring to planetary imaging.

Thanks!

That's really good Kathy. I'm hoping to catch Mars here visually in addition to Jupiter. Also may try to image a bit. So far my efforts with the ASI 120 have been failures to laughable. Need more practice.

Hi Kathy. A very nice Jupiter image from you here. You captured the equatorial belts nicely as well as the GRS. Thanks for sharing this fine capture with us on here Kathy and welcome to the dark side.
