In memory of nFA

I have some very sad news to past along.

Our top poster and long time member of both AstronomyForum.net and TheSkySearchers.com passed away November 19th 2022.
His last posting was on the same day he past.

We don’t know a lot about nFA except that he loved our Astrophysics forum. His knowledge was exceptional and was considered to be our ‘expert’ in that area.

We wish him well on his journey to the stars and beyond.

A sad day to find this out, at AF.net we struck a fast friendship and had many good conversations.

He was the one who emailed me about the creation of TSS almost immediately after it's launch.

This is very sad to hear. His love of astronomy and physics, and life itself was very evident in his posts. I became acquainted with John or Toshu at AF.net as well. I always respected his devotion to the hobby and his vast store of knowledge. While he and I did not engage extensively, I considered him a friend, who was patient with my lack of knowledge in the realm of physics. Rest well nFA, you will be missed tremendously.

This is indeed sad news for all of us. nFA could always explain difficult astrophysics in a way that we could all understand. In addition to his knowledge of astronomy and physics, he was also accomplished in the field of music, and he always demonstrated a wonderful sense of humor. It was a genuine pleasure to have known nFA on both astronomy forums. Rest in Peace nFA as we will be together again in the stars someday and thank you for all of your contributions and help over the years.

This is very sad to hear. I've only been on this forum for almost a year but he was always one of the central people that I thought would always be here. He is one of the people I think of when I think about TSS. His posts/opinions/insights taught this newbie so much. Thank you, nFA for all you taught me.

This is very sad news. I have known notFritz for several years, both here on TSS and before on AF.net. His expertise in astronomy and astrophysics was unparalleled, and his prolific posting (14999 posts) kept us all in touch with the latest developments in the field and explained complex phenomena in ways that ordinary folks could understand.

He leaves shoes that are unfillable.

This is very sad news. nFA was exceedingly generous with his knowledge and experience. One of my favorite rabbit holes on the forum was a lengthy and detailed discussion with other members concerning the physics of ice formation. It's tough to imagine the forum without him right now.

This is incredibly sad news. Like so many others, while I never met nor even spoke with him, I felt I had a bond with him through the forum.

To say he will be missed is an extreme understatement!

I will miss his input.
I always enjoyed his sparring with posters of equal knowledge and especially with those of far inferior knowledge!
His put downs were gentlemanly and wise (mostly!)
We know little about him so perhaps we might learn more about him in time. Who was this mysterious stalwart educator?
