Simies 147 (Spaghetti Nebula) HOO/RGB

This is Simeis 147, also known as the Spaghetti Nebula or Sharpless 2-240, a supernova remnant in the Milky Way straddling the border between the constellations Auriga and Taurus. Discovered in 1952 at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory using a large 25" telescope, it is difficult to observe due to its extremely low brightness.
The nebulous area is fairly large with an almost spherical shell and filamentary structure. The remnant has a diameter of approximately 15 light years, covering 3 degrees of the sky, an area of roughly 6 full moons. It's estimated distance is 3000 (±350) light-years, and an age of approximately 40,000 years.
The expanding remnant is not the only aftermath. The cosmic catastrophe also left behind in the nebula core a rapidly spinning neutron star known as pulsar PSR J0538+2817 emitting a strong radio signal, all that remains of the original star's core.

This is a 2 panel mosaic in HOO/RGB using the Askar FRA300 with the QHY268M. Total time was 10hrs 50min with 4:40 of Ha, 4:10 of Oiii and 2:00 of RGB for the stars. Proccesed using APP and PI. I would have liked a wider field to frame it a bit better but this is the best I can get with the Askar300. I will also try and add more of the faint Oiii in the future.
Thx for looking and as always C&C appreciated.
Cheers
Alex

A great result of this very faint and large Nebula. The oiii is indeed very faint and l could not manage any from my location in Bortle 7/8, so l had to do HaRGB.

I look forward to seeing this progress.

Congratulations on your APOD.

Catole

Hi Alex. A superb Spaghetti Nebula in HOO/RGB light. Lots of pasta and red emission nebulosity sauce in your capture. Thanks for taking the time to put this fine work up on here for us to enjoy Alex and congratulations on receiving the well deserved TSS APOD Award today.

That is a wonderful image Alex!

Skysafari doesn't even show an image of this nebula. Looks like a very tough target. Very nice capture and skillful processing!

Congratulations on the apod!
