If you have any ideas for the October 2019 challenge we would love to hear them!

Please posts your suggestions to this thread, we will put them in the hat for the draw at the end of September!

Remember to be sure they are visible from both hemispheres and easily found with smaller scopes under moderately light polluted skies.

Looking forward to your suggestions!!!

Within our observing group, October means two things, the Helix nebula and NGC253

Because we are based at 52 degrees north, these are elusive objects for us. They can be seen from late August, but not until the wee small hours. But by October, they can be seen at a earlier time, NGC253 would be visible by 2am. It is often difficult to get out observing in winter because of icy conditions, in the countryside anyway, so there is a smallish time window for us to see them. When you factor in full Moons and cloud, then some years we don't see them at all.

In my humble opinion, they are two of the best objects in the whole sky, and I would like to nominate both.

Second for 253, but then galaxies are my thing.

+3 for 253

PS, Clinton are you generating multiple tickets for the items voted on by more than one person, for example will you be putting three sheets of paper with NGC 253 on it into the monthly drawing?

Can we have something for the newbies? I propose, a globular cluster of your choice.
