Finally, a good night out

#1

Post by jrkirkham »

:eusa-dance:

After three weeks in Michigan visiting my son's family, and a week of clouds on my return, the weather was great in Illinois and I was able to spend a night out under the stars. The night weather was chilly, 24 F, but not too cold for a view from a clear rural sky. I spent most of the night taking star trails and night videos.

My favorite shot of the night was this capture of Mars. I used an 11" Celestron, a 2.5x Powermate, and a ZWO ASI120MC for the capture. My capture program was the ASI Studio. Stackng was done in AS2!. Slight sharpening in Registax 6 and final processing in Elements 8.

Hello Rob. A very nice report from you here. And you have a beautiful Mars image using your C11 scope with Powermate Barlow. Excellent planetary color, ice cap and surface details in your capture. Thanks for sharing this work with us Rob and the best of wishes for many clear night skies.

Beautiful image of Mars, Rob! I have yet to see Mars with this much detail on the two nights that I've observed the planet, but hopefully that'll change when I bring my largest scopes out.
Scopes: Reflectors, refractors, and 1 catadioptric. Ranging in aperture from 50mm to 150mm.
