Astro-Tech AT72EDII field flattener

#1

Post by hatflyer »

Does anyone make a field flattener that doesn't reduce the focal length? Maybe the Orion Field Flattener for Short Refractors?

Thanks.

From the Astronomics website, "Availability: More On The Way" to me, this implies that it will be available again, just not now. So how badly to you need it?

I think they said it could be 6 months to a year.

I'm looking at the TS-Optics Doublet SD-Apo 80 mm f/7. Anyone know of a 1.0 field flattener besides the TSFlat25DEL? Anyoone opinions on this scope?

The one that is specifically designed for that scope is this one:

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/pr ... hluss.html

However they are located in Denmark and I'm not sure if you can get one shipped to the US.

The Long Perng 2" flattener can be used with the 2" adapter the TS scope shows it comes with.

Thanks.

For flatteners, if u don't buy the brand 1, can u tell a flattener will work because of the specs, or is there still a risk it may not do it so well?

This is why I have two FF. The Hotech which should have worked with my ES 80mm APO still gave me slightly distorted stars at the corners. The Astro-Tech AT2FF worked flawlessly in the same scope. What I don't know is why the Hotech is not performing as it should. Is it design or manufacturing deficiencies? I'll probably never know.
