I bought the hardback version of this when first released; it stays indoors. Now have it in paper for the rigors of the field:

I found this on Amazon in like-new condition; have yet to sit down with it:

Here is one I do treasure, published 2001. Early memories of outer space stories often featured Bonestell's fascinating work:

"Astronomy" by William Waller. Descriptive (minimal math) and labeled as a beginner's guide, but it's a nice review that fits in my coat pocket for those "stolen moments".

I recently purchased the Cambridge Double Star Atlas and the RASC Observer's Handbook 2023. Those are my two newest additions.

For years I bought the RASC handbook each Autumn so that a printed reference would be available.

This time I did not, mostly because I used it so little over the years.

I've been thinking about getting a copy of the CDSA. Have you had it long enough to form an opinion?

I haven't started using the CDSA enough to have an opinion yet. I am just finishing up a solar system project and switching to more of a focus on double stars. I got the book and read a few of the first articles before the holidays hit. I spent most of the holidays with my children and grandchildren. I haven't been out to my warm room, where I have the atlas, since they left.

I know what you mean with the RASC. much of the material is the same from year to year. I didn't buy it last year, and found myself wanting it part way through the year. I did buy it the year before, but not the year before that.
