Arp 219

Arp 219 (UGC 2812, PGC 13489 and others) is the odd, distorted galaxy at the center. Part of Arp’s, ‘Galaxies (not classifiable as S or E) - adjacent loops’ class, this one is located approximately 460 million light-years away in Eridanus.

UGC 2814 (PGC 13496 and others) is the spiral to the left (east) of Arp 219. It is suspected that this one is interacting with Arp 219 but it is not in Arp’s original image.

Luminance – 28x600s – 280 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 9:12:8x300s – 45:60:40 minutes each – binned 1x1

425 minutes total exposure – 7 hours 5 minutes

Imaged October 30th and 31st and November 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th, 2021 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
