I have been setting up my Celestron SE6, firstly for visual work at the astronomy club I have set up in the Village, and secondly to give me a planetary system for AP. Doing this has reminded me of two things, one that the SE6 setup is more portable than my AVX, and two how much simpler visual setup is than AP.
I have just purchased a Celestron Li battery pack for the visual work so that is setup as a ‘grab & go’, and I’ve added the hand controller lead I need for the ASIAir in need for my own planetary AP. Now I think an alt/az should work find for video work on planets/solar.
My question is would there be any advantage to mounting the SCT on my AVX for solar system AP?
The telescope weights 8lb and the mount capacity is 12lb so imaging may put it at its limit though if you are doing video for imaging planets it should work.
The AVX will just give you longer imaging time and be steadier than the SE due to capacity but give it a try, it could be a good setup for that.
When you place the telescope on the mount do you have the dovetail tightening bolt up or down?
If down, turn it so it is up, this places the telescope dovetail on the solid part of the mount and not on the spring loaded side.

For lunar/planetary, Alt-Az is more than good enough. Remember that for planetary AP you want to get your focal length FL as long as you can reasonably make it.
