36mm Baader Hyperion

#1

Post by LDW47 »

Just bought one to use in my NP101 and several other smaller refractors for low power viewing. Any personal comments of actual experiences ? I am hoping it will be a good fit with the rest of my Hyperion / Morpheus collection.

I found the 36mm Baader Hyperion aspheric to be excellent in slow OTAs ~f10. I found that at f5 the edge of field correction was not good in my Newtonian. Your NP101, though near f5, is designed to be a flatter field than a Newtonian so you may well find it a very good fit.
Scopes: Refs: Orion ST80, SV 80EDA f7, TS 102ED f11 Newts: AWB 130mm, f5, Z12 f5; Cats: VMC110L, Intes MK66,VMC200L f9.75 EPs: KK Fujiyama Orthoscopics, 2x Vixen NPLs (40-6mm) and BCOs, Baader Mark IV zooms, TV Panoptics, Delos, Plossl 32-8mm. Mixed brand Masuyama/Astroplans Binoculars: Nikon Aculon 10x50, Celestron 15x70, Baader Maxbright. Mounts: Star Seeker IV, Vixen Porta II, Celestron CG5

I have found the 36mm and 31mm to be the best of the series.

I second that. Can't comment on their performance in newts, but they perform nicely in all my CATs and fracs (F5 to F15).

I've always thought the Hyperion Aspherics worked well in my refractors.
