What's impressive is this Beast .
So you know , They ALL get the Dining room table during assy
Any bigger and I'll need a new table.
This Base is very solid, quality parts.
.
I got everything ready to go , powered up...seems fine,
then Shut it off,
.
Time to read the instructions.
.
Gotta Fly...
.
PS I snuck in some Anti seize in places...you can't tell .
Aluminum will gawl

Enjoy the mount, do you have a 12v battery pack yet?

A 7Ah or 17Ah battery pack from Harbor Freight would power the mount for many hours and would be cheaper than most deap cell batteries as well as substantially lighter.

I've given up on the jump-start batteries and have switched over to these portable lithium batteries. This particular battery will power the AVX mount all weekend long.

Actually , there's a battery in one of my planes that I might use.
Otherwise for now I have power close by...or even a generator.
.
I gotta say that this thing is really built... all the knobs aren't plastic with steel screws.
They are Aluminum with steel....solid stuff
I just noticed that this morning , I was looking at the tripod extensions and saw I forgot to put Anti seize on those steel threads.
Since those would be tightened "Tight" because it's a leg... Without Anti seize your asking for trouble.
.
As I have been mess'n with the hand controller...I noticed from going through alienment mode (Which seems to be minor)
Using some of the "Go to" search features could put me outside very fast , It has passed the Hobby Bench test.
She wants to search the skies. ( and I haven't really read the manual yet , but I will )
.
I'm going to set it up on the deck... Not where you want to do any astrophotography
But close power and next learning stage. Which is still visual observing as I tinker with the camera.( later , trackers too )
.
It's cool to see it Slew into position. Now I know why it cost almost 3 times the price of the OTA
I do not feel bad about the price of this , quality was worth it, but hard to tell online.
.
Oh , my idea about a Go To Telescope went out the window here...
I'll still need a small one better than my 90mm...
.
Gotta Fly...
.
PS Below are a couple picture of a quick mod.
The EQ-1 didn't have anything stopping the telescope from flopping over.
I don't drink , but my wife has a few wine corks around...I use them on several things.
Anywho, I found one that wasn't "cork" , but a hard foam material...
as the angle is set to 47 degrees , it pre loads the cork , and it stays in place.
I still wanna use this one for the Grandson to mess with.

Actually I would not put anti-seize on any threads in the legs or on the mount clutches, there are various parts that have either rubber or felt like material behind the threads.
The only places that it will be a benefit is counterweight bar and altitude bolts. Everything else will work fine as is for decades.
The oils from the anti-seize will deteriorate the felt/ rubber pieces over time. (a little is still to much where not required :))

If you want to make your mount happy, replace the altitude and azimuth bolts with stainless steel as the rough chromed chinese bolts will chew into the aluminium castings over time.
SS will glide through nicely and not chew the threads up.
Scopestuff makes a complete set of replacement bolt/ knobs for the AVX just look for EQ-5/ LXD-55 (not LXD-75)

Stainless is worse than steel when it comes to gawling aluminum...
.
If you put it only where it goes... and wipe it back off , you have enough.
