Gee if I had known there was so much to see I would have started decades ago !

Re: Images of Venus
Hello Frank. I have always been fascinated by the Venus surface images returned by the Russian Venera probes before they were destroyed from the heat and gases. And they are still the only surface images that we have of this planet. The atmosphere of Venus is consists of carbon dioxide and yellow clouds of sulfuric acid which is corrosive and the two produce a "greenhouse effect" which is why Venus is hotter than Mercury. Hopefully the future NASA DAVINCI+ and VERITAS missions to Venus will provide us with newer and sharper images and perhaps other data as well. Thanks for finding and sharing this interesting video with us Frank and the best of regards.

Re: Images of Venus
Hi Marshall you answered my most “ burning “question, pun intended !
That question was how can it be hotter yet further than mercury,(is mercury called that because it orbits the fastest around the sun) I didn’t realize it was because of its caustic atmosphere!
I was surprised after reading that the probes even lasted an hour !

Re: Images of Venus
Hi again Frank. The planet Mercury is named after the Roman god Mercury, who was a messenger for the other Roman gods because he must have moved fast. The planet Mercury completes an orbit around the Sun in only 88 of our Earth days, which is also very fast. Also, there is a Greatest Eastern Elongation (from the Sun) event of Mercury this August 27th, and should provide a nice view just after sunset just above our western horizon. I hope this helps Frank and keep looking up.
