Good old M 10

Post by Falcon 63 »

G'day everyone,

I was shuffling through my sketches I've done over the years.
sketched this impressive glob a while back at a favorite getaway called Gabbadah.
Famous for dark clear sky....and the odd bonfire and Jacks. :D
Ah...the memories!

Cheers
Wayne.

It is a great and wonderful sketch! Truly impressive!
Pity it is in PDF-format.
I converted it via GIMP into a JEPG file, but didn't post it for as JPEG it lost a bit of its glamour. Do you want me to post it?

Congrats, must be an incredible effort to sketch all those stars, and in a method that shows the intensities / magnitudes accurately!

G'day back Wayne. Everything is fine here, just getting older, which is both a downhill and uphill battle! I hope everything there is fine, and hope you get around to us more often. Sharing your sketching skills enriches all of us here.

I can see it is a labor of love and a skill you have honed. It is sort of like that with me and galaxy hunting. That is my main motivator and I've spent several years working on improving my low light detection skills. Now with the 17.5 inch permanently residing at our dark site house, I get the combination of aperture and darker skies - just what the doctor ordered for this old goat!

Hi Wayne,
what a nice sketch! Obviously, a lot of work. The effort and patience required to evoke the image that you have of the surrounding star cloud is a little mind blowing to be honest (not to take away from what to me looks a very accurate representation of M10). I imagine your practise is a little therapeutic; every now and then I "scratch" around with ink and a nib (not astro sketching) and I expect this to be somewhat similar.

thank you, very much enjoyed.
