I’m wondering if anyone has heard of this movie of a star that is about to explode and the film that is trying to capture it.
I was wondering if any of you have heard of it or have seen it yet !

Hi Frank,

I have not heard of the movie but I do know a little about the event that is the subject of the movie.

The exciting prediction made about 10 years ago was that a very close binary orbit of two stars would decay and the stars come into contact causing an explosion for want of a better word of a star KIC 9832227 in Cygnus.

However, the prediction by Professor Larry Molnar has since been revised and the 2022 date prediction withdrawn. If memory serves, the methodology was correct but they found that the observational data used to make the prediction contained a typo that radically accelerated the apparent decay leading to the 2022 prediction. It won't occur anytime in the near future.

If you do a search on Professor Larry Molnar or KIC 9832227 I am sure you will come up with lots of links. Just remember that any older links will be referring to the erroneous calculations.
