U Sco is on the blow

#1

Post by pakarinen »

The recurrent nova U Sco is reported to be in eruption:

Moriyama (Nagasaki, Japan) Jun 6.720 mag 11.4
Maehara (Okayama, Japan) Jun 6.773 mag 9.2

Maximum is usually around mag 8.

Follow up observations and spectroscopy are urgently requested. Eruptions are brief, only a few days. The object is quite far south, Dec-18 deg

The last eruption was in 2010.

A chart is available at https://app.aavso.org/vsp/chart/?star=U ... &east=left
(Chart can be scaled and orientated as desired)
