Re: Observing Report for 06 June 2022 - a little back yard binocular romp
Great report, Alan.
There is something very satisfying about casually scanning the skies with binoculars. On a reasonably clear night, and particularly under relatively dark’ish skies, I can find a session like this easily as satisfying as through a much largeraperture . Picking out objects such as 47 Tuc, Omega Centauri, the Jewel Box and Ptolomy’s Cluster’s and the like, can make for a lengthy session in themselves.
Thanks again for the report, was a great read… if the skies are clear here on Sydney’s northern beaches tonight (which I’m sure they won’t be), you’ve inspired me to do the same.
Cheers and clear skies,
Aaron

Thank you Aaron. While I do not observe regularly with binoculars, it was indeed satisfying to go the simple route. Your mention of those southern objects brings back great memories of my trips to more southern climes where I was able to see them in binoculars and small scopes. I hope you have good luck with your planned outing under a dark southern sky.

Re: Observing Report for 06 June 2022 - a little back yard binocular romp
I've often stepped out the back door just before going to bed to make a binocular sweep of the night sky. It has been one of my favorite ways to greet the night. 10x50s were always my binoculars of choice.
