Need help with EdgeHD11 and focus motor

#1

Post by ic_1101 »

Hope someone can help with my problem as I’m at my wits end.
I have an EdgeHD11 with a Celestron focus motor installed. The imaging train consists of the EdgeHD11 reducer, Esatto2 focuser, qhyoag, filter drawer and the qhy268c for a back focus of exactly 147mm.
I calibrated the celestron focus motor and it showed 30800 steps (their focuser control software seems to imply that there are 60000 steps). I had no issue the past month achieving focus although it was at the upper limit of the celestron focuser travel (29000-30500) but now that things are warming up I can’t achieve focus as it runs out of travel at 30800 steps.
The only way I can focus is to increase my back focus distance of 147mm with the Esatto2 focuser which of course plays havoc with the stars.
Am I missing something here? Should the focus motor calibrate to 60000 and if so how?
Really appreciate any help.
Alex
