Arp 21

Post by dcrowson »

Arp 21 (MCG+05-26-047, PGC 33487, VV 552b and others), part of Arp’s, ‘ Spiral galaxies – three-armed’ class, is an odd one located approximately 400 million light-years away in Leo Minor.

2MASX J11051526+2958421 (PGC 142876 and others) might be more interesting than the Arp. This is a M94-looking galaxy below and to the left of Arp 21. This description is from Rick Johnson - https://www.mantrapskies.com/about-me/.

Luminance – 36x600s – 360 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 14:12:14x300s – 70:60:70 minutes each – binned 2x2

560 minutes total exposure – 9 hours 20 minutes

Imaged in December, 2020 and January, 2021 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
