I am Jeff,
What's with the gdjsky01 you ask? Nothing. Just 100s of sites require a unique username. And my initials reversed and the last 3 letters of my last name, always seems to work the doddle! I've made 63+ trips around our local star. . Married in '99. No kids.
I am a child of the 60's. I loved (and still do) anything and everything space, planes, model rockets, R/C, and astronomy.
My first scope, a department scope 60mm
Next was an RV6 Dynascope. I spent more time trying to polar align it then looking through it. (See I was a kid, and convinced you HAD to polar align to find anything.) I can't recall a single viewing session with that scope.
The Air Force then Kodak. Those years saw my astro ambitions wax and wane. Astronomy in Rochester NY was hard. There was Winter and the mosquito season. Went through two C8s (Tuthill, remember him?), and a 10 inch LX200 (first gen!)
Then a move to AOL in Southern California where I met my wife. I FINALLY got to RTMC (where I became a volunteer for many years). I had read about it for years and years.
RTMC that year '99, featured the Yard Scope, I was hooked HARD again.
So my first scope after becoming a born again amatear was an 18 inch Litebox
I have a bunch of scopes and the churn is pretty often. I live under
