Nice! I thought there weren't any Iridium flares any more. Did you figure out an ID for it?

looked at what was flying over at the time -
4 old boosters rockets - so maybe a rocket tumbling -

have seen tumbling satellites by eye a few times
looks cool - have several photos of spinning sats flashing -

I usually set cams up so I know where pointing
but with moon and dust in air just point so moon
light has least effect on cam - so did not keep track where pointing -

moving to new location in a week -

Hi Groovy2 I’m glad I looked at this post because I saw something very similar a few nights ago.
I have seen satellites go by at varying speeds but always pretty much the same luminosity.
However I saw pretty much what was in your video I knew it was the satellite but I was amazed at how almost home I have to assume it’s the angle it was traveling at where it would get really bright on its trajectory than almost get dim again, I watched it do it a half a dozen times!
Gee if I had known there was so much to see I would have started decades ago ! :Astronomer1:

HI FrankSkywatcher -

could have been Tumbling satellite ?
they look cool and make great photos -

there could be list of tumbling satellites - ?

there is area that moves across sky that sunlight acts as a spot light -
sun spot light illuminates object that are in this area much brighter
dont know what this area is called but on timelapse video its noticeable -
satellites between 11pm and 2am that get illuminated are in this area

have seen objects in spot light area that are moving so slow that have many 1000s of miles high
this object on video about 1am - likely the farthest satellite ive recorded -

I don’t know if it was a tumbling satellite but very well could have been .
I don’t know if theses a list of tumbling satellites I don’t think so but I could be wrong.
I point my telescope in a southwesterly direction about a half hour after sunset and I always see them getting lit up from the setting sun at least 3 to 5 a night.
One night I saw 12 of them in a row Elon Musks new system.
