M43 help

I have one,
I finally had clear skies last night, so I went out and did some astronomy. I got a decent photo of M1 the crab nebula, as well as M42 the Orion nebula.
Then, I decided to try and go to M43, De Mairans nebula, because it was close to the Orion Nebula, according to my understanding. When I input the object, my telescope went to it. To my surprise, I wound up at M42.
I need some help with this, is my telescope not working right, or is M43 so close to M42 that they are there in the same field view?
Can someone help me figure this out?
I am attaching a picture I took of M42, when I tried to go to M43.
Any help with this will be appreciated.
