The JWST has made its Mid Course Correction Burn (MCC2) - L2 Orbit Insertion and has successfully arrived at its new home position, L2.
Now we wait for the cooling to complete and the mirrors to be aligned, and then the fun begins.
I hope people aren't disappointed when they finally start seeing images from this scope. They are not going to be "pretty pictures" like we are used to seeing from the Hubble. This scope will be looking back at the furthest reaches of time at the faintest of objects so don't expect much.

JWST has a sizeable list of Observations for various Science Projects, including "looking back at the furthest reaches of time at the faintest of objects". But, just as with Hubble, NASA understands that they also have to Hook the Average Joe with "Pretty Pictures" (even if those Pics also have Scientific Value). The JWST NIRCam has a broad spectral reach that starts in the 600nm "Green-Yellow" portion of the Visible Spectrum before diving into the Infrared. And for that beyond the Visible Spectrum, colors can readily be mapped ala the Hubble Pallette (which presented from moderate UV through Visible into Near IR in glorious "pretty pictures").
I, for one, expect to get my full $67 worth of Images from JWST over the coming years...

100% correct !
I heard a spokesperson at the briefing say that at first images will crappy but over time they will get better and I was thinking better pictures to give to the masses !

It is likely that this quote was about the Cool-down and Collimation and Scientific Package (Cameras) Commissioning Processes, and their impact on Initial Images.
(And Expectation Management, until any Startup Difficulties are addressed...)

That’s exactly what they saying, letting the telescope cool down to operating temps, aligning the mirrors and the waking up the instrument package you are correct sir!

The Webb Telescope has found its first target. It is a star HD84406 that is located in the constellation Ursa Major, near the Big Dipper.

So, if HD84406 is "too bright for its Science Packages", is it truly "First Light"?? Or simply a Collimation Target??

A collimation target (in my humble opinion). And I'm guessing that there will be other collimation targets too, before they start doing the intended research in astronomy.

The NASA website for the Webb Space Telescope had added a bunch of new temperature sensors to show us how the spacecraft is cooling down:
