My Andoid phone has a notification icon and the drop-down is telling me that it is downloading a SkySafari 6 Pro file. It has been doing this since 10:00 this morning. Is anybody else experiencing this massive download that's currently going on? This file was not selected through the normal update process for Android. It started downloading on its own and nothing on my phone is allowed to do anything on its own. My phone is working normally otherwise. I think my phone might be hung up because of this download.

I Love, Love Sky Safari but it's one big complaint for me is that it is a huge space hog. And from what I understand, when it updates, it re-downloads the entire program and any star catalogs you may have downloaded before it uninstalls the old version. I've had my system lock up like this because I didn't have enough space available on my computer to download the new update without first uninstalling the original version. I'd try doing a force stop, uninstall the current version, then re-do the download.

I said computer but I meant my phone.

I have a better handle on what's going on. Last year I signed up to be a beta tester for Sky Safari Pro 6 and what I did not know is that in the program itself when you're a beta tester it automatically ticks the Auto download button for beta versions of the software. Normal program updates still go through the Google Play update function. I'm going to wait this out a while longer and if it doesn't fix itself or finish, I'll force stop it.

I had the same issue. Tried a few options suggested by support (i.e. disabling notification), did not help. Had to uninstall and re-install SS6pro which fixed the issue.

Thanks Andrey, I figured that was the next step. I just fired off an email to the parent company of Sky Safari.

Good call Andrey, I just did an uninstall, restart, reinstall and this fixed the issue. Apparently, this is what generated the latest software update. Hmmm

The only annoyance is that you have to configure again all the little things within SS6p.

Yeah, it's ashamed there's not a profile or preferences file somewhere that you could copy & paste. It's a real pain when you have a bunch of custom eyepiece, scope, camera profiles.

Supposedly, if you create LiveSky account you can backup some/all of your customized content.

One more annoyance is that "redden keyboard in night vision" option used to work fine on my newer phone, but some how got broken. No matter what I try the red screen won't cover the top two rows of the keyboard. They are aware of the issue but say "sorry it is android thing we can't do anything about".

It still work on my old phone so I drag it around just for SS6p while observing.

In the Settings page, scroll to the bottom to see USER DATA. Under that is "Save & Restore Settings". I've not used (I might now) but it should do what you're suggesting.
