August 2019 Monthly Challenge!

AUGUST 2019 MONTHLY CHALLENGE.
Thank you for all the target ideas that were put forward!

OUR MONTHLY CHALLENGE FOR AUGUST IS M27!!!

Messier 27, NGC 6853, Planetary Nebula in Vulpecula, Magnitude +7.09
M27 also known as the Dumbell Nebula, was first discovered by CharlesMessier in 1764 and added to his now famous catalog as M27.
William Herschel invented the name Planetary Nebula for this object class in 1784 as they resembled his newly discovered planet Uranus.
M27 is thought to be at a distance of about 1227 light years from Earth in the constellation Vulpecula, the exact distance is not very well known.
The central star is a white dwarf progenitor and is also slightly larger than most known white dwarf stars, it is 5% of the Earth's mass and it is at magnitude 13.5.
Below is a basic chart showing the location of M27 that is taken from Cartes Du Ceil.
This is a well known and often viewed target for many of us and should pose no real challenges even to the beginner, M27 is also visible in binoculars.
So once again we ask that you get out there and show us what you have! Visual reports, sketches,photographs,EAA /Video or anything else that you desire!
