Hey all, hope you and yours are well :D

I've just come in from a great couple of hours viewing Saturn and Jupiter with my 80mm orange-tube C80 with its stock star diagonal (a very heavy prism)with various Fujiyama KK Ortho's. More on that tomorrow...

Last Wednesday and Thursday I had an opportunity through the clouds to take some pics with my Canon EOS 550D and the stock 18-55mm lens of the two gas giants and the Moon forming something of a triangle in the sky.
I would have posted these then, but it's been a week.

Both pics were taken at ISO 1600 with 2.5 seconds exposure at f/9.

I also took 15 shots of ol' Luna on the Wednesday with said camera at ISO 200 and 1/360th ec exp with my C80-HD; stacked those with PIPP and a bit of sharpening with the Raw Filter in PS 2020. Meh...

I did want to do some visual, but there was a thin haze both nights with way too much "twinkling" going on, both with the planets and the stars, not to mention the glow from the evil orb.

Tonight was another night :D

All the best,

Very nice, Mark! I've been admiring the Moon/Jupiter/Saturn trio the past few nights myself (naked eye).

That is an excellent lunar image!

Good job Mark.

Last night we had a clear unobstructed naked eye view of the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn.

Unobstructed as far as land-based objects were concerned anyway; e.g. no trees.

However, there were a few patchy clouds hanging around, heading from the east directly threatening our three celestial bodies.

So we started to get our fieldscope set up to hopefully beat the clouds and get a closer look.

It wasn't to be though. By the time we had got the gear set up the clouds had moved right across all three objects, and the band of clouds were getting thicker as they moved across the sky :( :flame:

Such is life

Hi Mark. Very pleasing landscape images of Jupiter, Saturn and Moon with the Canon EOS 550D. And the 15 shot and stacked lunar capture is excellent. Thanks again for sharing your very nice work with us Mark and the best of wishes for many clear skies.
