Celestron 15x70s
I don't mind splashing out if they're good but I don't want to pay for the label.

If you do get them I would suggest changing out the included holder as it is not up to holding them adequately.

Re: Celestron 15x70s
I have the plain vanilla 15x70's (Around $69.95 U.S. a few years back) from Amazon.
They perform adequately and fortunately they didn't need to be collimated. Otherwise there is a procedure to collimate them by folding back the rubber housing and adjusting the set screws with a screwdriver. (There are various youtube videos showing the process).
I also have the Oberwerk 25x100's on a parallelogram mount, excellent quality and images.
Refractors: ES AR152 f/6.5 Achromat on Twilight II, Celestron 102mm XLT f/9.8 on Celestron Heavy Duty Alt Az mount, KOWA 90mm spotting scope
Binoculars: Celestron SkyMaster 15x70, Bushnell 10x50
Eyepieces: Various, GSO Superview, 9mm Plossl, Celestron 25mm Plossl
Camera: ZWO ASI 120
Naked Eye: Two Eyeballs
Latitude: 48.7229° N

Re: Celestron 15x70s
They were very light weight though - I could do a fair length of handheld observing - and I thought they had decent optics (if I only used one barrel at a time). Much lighter than my current IF Orions.
If I were to get another pair of vanillas, I'd buy Obies. FWIW.
Man... That's some icky-tasting stuff!

Those 11x70 ED APOs look perfect. I might struggle to get agreement on the £600 price though!

Well I went for it! APM 11x70 ED
I picked them up this afternoon. Obviously, told the bloke to check out the Sky Searchers forum to see how I get on with them!
Just sitting here now waiting for the sun to go down.
Apologies for the clouds to all southern England astronomers. It was Gabrielle's fault!

I am clouded out as well even though I did not purchase anything, but of course according to meteoblue, above the clouds conditions are almost perfect...
