Took a gamble on this Celestron (made by Vixen) Giant 20x80 binos. I am big fan of older Japanese optics and they don't come out for sale too often. The gamble paid off nicely.
. The case and binos show some signs of use, but in a clean nice shape. I took a brief look and they are good mechanically and optically. Collimation seems to be fine to, but I need a proper night session to confirm.
Once thing for sure - they need a sturdy mount, handheld or monopod won't do. Not so much matter of weight and size, but the higher power. I took a look at Venus and even with binos rested on the balcony rail Venus was doing crazy dance. Next time I will use a fluid photo head (because this is what I have). However, I have felling that I need to start looking for a good parallelogram mount.

Those look awesome! Congrats. I have a pair of 25x70 Celestrons, and yea, hand held attempts leave you with a bit of motion sickness.

A friend has 3 different sizes of the APM and goes on and on... and on about them
He has sold his Nikon and Oberwerk since purchasing them.

Not sure about Nikon, but don't Oberwerk and APM outsource production to the same company?

I have no idea but the quality of the APM are well above Oberwerk.
