Hi @carastro - never too late for this thread!

That a really nice process. The colours, especially the blue of the triffid are nicely delicate.

Also delighted to see I'm not alone in ignoring the American-English (if thats not an oxymoron then not sure what is) spellcheck on "colOUr" :banana-dance:

PS - much as I'd love to take credit for the data it was Astrobee who collected this and shared it with us.

I couldn't resist processing M20 on it's own, it's such a lovely target. Just a bit of extra star size reduction due to it being such a large crop.

It's beautiful Carole.
This was shot with my very wide field StellavVue SV70 and reducer so only at 336mm fl. I should find my ED127mm data for you. Same image but at 667mm fl.
Edit: I just sent you a PM.

Thanks AstroBee, yes sorry was having an absent minded moment it's M20. Thanks for the separate data on that, should I put it in this thread?

I think I will do it tomorrow as it's late evening here in the UK and feeling a bit tired. Yes I know I am an Astrophotographer I should be used to staying up late, but had a busy couple of days.

I'd make a separate thread since it's different data acquired with different equipment. Putting it here might confuse people.

This has been a real learning experience for me. Taking advantage of the nice images from others with their suggestions I have been trying different approaches to processing this data. The image below is my latest attempt at trying to bring out more of the background. This time I only used the Lum + RGB files.

Pixinsight PROCESS:
RGB
Noise reduction with MureDenoise
BackgroundNeutralization
AutomaticBackgroundExtraction
Combine RGB
ColorCalibration
Stretch with HistogramTransformation
TGVDenoise with mask
Lum
Noise reduction with MureDenoise
AutomaticBackgroundExtraction
TGVDenoise with mask
Sharpen with LocalHistorgrmEqualization (Kernel radius 26 then 110)
Reduce star sizes
Combine Lum and RGB images
Apply LRGBCombination to slightly blurred (using Convolution) RGB image with Lum as L and R, G, B unchecked.
ExponentialTransformation to enhance background of LRGB image
CurvesTransformation with S-curve to enhance contrast
SCNR to remove unwanted green

Thanks for looking.

As per previous posts, Astrobee kindly gave me his data from M20 done with different kit.

I have posted it on this thread:

That's beautiful Steve. It's hard for me to believe there's that much signal in my raw data.

When I first processed it I missed most of the low-level nebulosity. After seeing the beautiful images by startoolsastro and carastro I decided to give it another try. I'm glad I did.

Thanks for sharing your data with all of us.

Cheers,

Steve

Very nice. Great to see someone still playing with my data.
I think between the three or four processes I did and all the different versions here, it has to be my most processed data.

That's because you don't have 3 months in summer with no astro dark which makes it hardly worth taking the kit out. Because of that some of my data is on its 12th repro. And still a couple of weeks before I have dark again. :?
