LeoTriplet - LLRGB

Had a couple of clear nights to keep experimenting with LLRGB and the mono camera. I'm still chasing one mystery gradient but seem to have my flats finally working (Seem like the 294mm likes long flats, >2sec - this wasn't the case with the 294mc.)

Here's the results. 80 frames Lum at 120sec, 15 frames each RGB at 180 second. For Startools users out there, I posted a question to Ivo on StarToos forum. For a Startools workflow he noted that LLRGB works better if subs are all shot at same length. Also mentioned that keeping things at same length helped get better results with StarTools Decon Module.

Going mono is definitely more work than using my color camera, but does seem to produce a better image in the end.

Great image, and I definitely agree with your statement above. Also, I have used equal exposures for L and RGB, but with my Atik 460ex mono, which is a 16 bit CCD, I use 5 minute subs.

Nice pic,
Steve

Thanks, all. And on point of clarification.... there was a typo in my original post.. I've found the 294mm likes the long flats... I did not see the same behavior with my 294mc! Short flats on the 294mc seemed to calibrate fine with my setup.
