New ZWO ASI2600MM stopped downloading

#1

Post by Gerald_db »

My brand new 2600mm that cost an obscene amount of our Rands worked like a dream for 1 evening and then on night 2 after 20 x 240sec exposures first started sending corrupt image data then nothing just failed issues with nina. So frustrating. Worked perfectly out of the box and with 40 images max taken and all the identical equipment just errors.

I have dropped the usb3 speed to minimum. Unstable and redone drivers. Changed the 12v power supply.

I have used the ZWO ASI Studio software as well, same image failure issue.

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure your astro dealer will take care of it though since it's such a new purchase. Even in these modern times, there are still a few duds that make it through QC.

I had to buy from ZWO China as no dealer here in South Africa. Big mission returning to China.

Here's something to try before you send it back.

SGP and NINA both do a 'process' of the image to display while 'downloading' the raw data. This can cause a delay in the download process. Try using something like Sharpcap or Firecapture to take a few images and see if they download properly. Both of those programs can be downloaded for free and don't run a process while downloading.

Be sure to download the very latest versions of either Sharpcap or Firecapture as the included SDK for ZWO in needed to fix the problem.

Let us know if that works for you.

Feedback. ZWO China requested the SDK and USB port data capture files which I sent to them. They have responded that the camera has a "997 error" and requires to be sent back for repair.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully, they just replace it when they receive the defective unit and it will not take too long.

Clearly you are taking great images now, but we never heard the end of it. How did this work out, did you send it back and how was the service?
