Most of refractors are nose-heavy and to balance them you have to shift the tube so the mount clamp is closer to the front, not in the middle. As long as you check the balance you should be fine.Razz wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 11:56 pm Probably not. It's close to how I had it set up in the house and it was balanced. I just did a quick set up outside today to get the finder scope adjusted. Clearoutside is predicting clear skies for me next Saturday and I'm just trying to get set up. It's odd that you asked that. Do you see a problem? If so, let me know.

For some time now, I've wanted a classic Japanese 60mm
Raining, currently, but maybe a chance for clearing late tomorrow (Friday).

For some time now, I've wanted a classic Japanese 60mm f/15 to use on occasion, so it must be the collector in me that's driving this as I've now obtained my second (as yet, untested) refractor, with another(!) arriving next week. I do hope they do not all turn out to be duds, otherwise the search will continue.

Not being familiar with the Unitron model numbering, I don't know how mine would have been listed.
It came in the original wooden box with no room for any type of mount -
Waiting for an improvement in weather to use, and photograph, these 2.4-inch Oriental creations.
BTW, in 1959 I turned three.

Takahashi FOA-60 clamshell/ADM Tak dovetail plate holds it. Original finder missing, I added the one seen. Also, one screw for the lens retaining ring was missing, and I have been unable to find an exact match commercially. The screw I use is not the proper one.
