SvBony very active currently

Post by Greenman »

I use quite a few of their accessories now, and they are all good. Currently they are fleshing out the SV503 scope one by adding a 70mm and a 102mm to the stable, that looks rapid after no releasing the 503 that long ago. I wonder where these originate from? SvBony seem a bit frosty in their replies to enquiry, along the lines of - we are developing, and no other comments.

Do these look familiar to anyone?

Cheers,

Tony.

Interesting I see what you mean. Mind you neither mention 70 or 120 - probably an OEM arrangement with a NDA in place from one or the other. I’m quite happy with my Altair Starwave, does a good job for me. I may get more accessories from SvBony. But the service is a bit more local from Nick at Altair. :D

Just me ruminating... Gabby. I’m nosy like that
Cheers,

Tony.

Altair is a good retailer, they take the time to check the equipment they sell and make sure it is good quality going out the door.
SvBony seems to make (or resell) decent accessories but I am very suspect about the quality of their refractors.

Doing a big push in Twitter at the moment with several European ‘customers’ - I suspect beta testers. I expect the scope shortage here is tempting for them.

I would want to do a direct side by side comparison between a SvBony and equivalent known refractor.
I have a feeling the difference would be quite noticeable between them.

I am going to take the plunge on a 102ed scope from them , strictly visual use . Wish I could put hands on one first but the local shop I would frequent closed up years ago. Hands on optics was a great shop. I miss the store.
Current scopes 16in night sky dobsonian , 80mm synta refractor on a slik professional tripod with a stellarvue m1 mount Meade series 4000 eyepieces. Meade 70mm binoculars. Keep looking up.

In route. Astrotech 102ed refractor :sprefac:

I’d be interested in a report on the scope, seen some good images from it.
Cheers,

Tony.

I just checked and AT 102ED appears to be in stock. I would feel safer going with it vs SVBONY.

The AT 102ed was what I was after. I figured they stopped production on them . I ordered one from woodland hills and then they said not in stocks. Thanks for the link.

At102 has fk61 glass vs flp53 in the svbony , if that's true.

SVBONY site says fpl51. In any case it is not the type of glass but how well it is incorporated. AT scopes have a good following, you know what you are getting. With SVBONY it could be flip or flop. Not much feedback available at this point.
