FCD-100/ Lanthanum make a good combination and with a 0.95 Strehl the lens will be getting better than average figuring and polish.

Let me back off my "totally worth it" to the extent of adding a "within reason". What are you thinking of getting?DSO are in the picture, then it is tricky. 80ED will definitely underperform on fainter stuff. However, if you can step up to 102mm ED then it will be better all around than ST80+ST120 combo.

I would say keep the ST80 as a quick G&G, the AT80 as a more serious G&G and the ST120 for

They used two type of FCD glasses-hence there's the essential vs normal triplet and they're reflected in the price.

I will second that totally worth it as I have an AT 72EDII with FPL-53 and lanthanum and boy is that a nice scope.
