Yup. Well it looks like I left a light leak in my DIY modified camera so I'm opening it up. It won't matter much in the end because an astro cam is on the way.

I just realized how that's pronounced. In the US, the rock form of cocaine is often referred to as crack, so probably best that I not add that to my conversational vocabulary here.

It's an Irish word! But it's used a lot in England. It just means doing something that's fun or enjoyable or exciting or a laugh.

I expect you'll be ok using it in the US as long as you say you're going to have the craic, not you're going to have some crack!
Besides which the craic is fun and life affirming. Crack on the other hand :Boo:

It's clear here, the telescope is on the mount set up and cooling. But Percy lands within the hour! Can't miss that, the telescope will have to wait!

Darting in and out all evening between the Perseverance mission landing and my telescope. NASA managed to successfully land Percy. I managed 30 x 300 seconds of NGC2024.

Went out for awhile this morning. +5F so it wasn't a long session and the transparency was bad - couldn't pick out M57 with my 80mm.

Some of the greens turned to orange but I'm still having a go.

Actually, having another go at the Flame Nebula only this time with a nicly dried out, non dewed up OTA!

My stars are nice sharp dots rather than the soft fuzzy blobs I've been getting. Shame about the full Moon.

I've been itching to get out my Towa 3" reflector from the early eighties, for whatever reason. It's mint and I even have a collection of the .965 eyepieces it takes  Actually, some of them aren't bad!

But, it looks like after a clear day... Yeah, we all know how that works ;)

I shall (hopefully) see!

All the best,
Mark

 Thanks Graeme, but I didn't buy it new. I purchased it as new off a local buy & sell, Kijiji, about four years back now. I pain $60CDN for it (34GBP), and have used it maybe 5 times.
This comes from having too many scopes ;). I tried to convert it to 1.25, but I don't have a focuser that has enough outward travel in that format. And the stock R&P's on these things were all metal with no slop and tight gears, so why not use it? I have a 32mm, 20mm, and 12.5mm lenses in .965 format that are honestly jaw-droppers from the Moon to Saturn to clusters. Not sure how that works!!!
The only thing I've done to this is center-dot the primary; collimating this thing at f/9.2 is literally a walk in the park...

Hope you have/had or are having a clear night!

All the best,
Mark

Cool scope Mark. I hope you can get some good use out if it. I did some outreach the other night with my niece, nephew and great nephew. The great nephew, who is 8, really enjoyed the gibbous moon. Terminator was still visible along with many craters and mountain ranges. Being 50 I am surprised to have a great nephew at this point, nephew had a kid at a pretty young age , but just got a job at Tesla yesterday as a robotics software technician so I am quite happy. More outreach will be done as the weather warms up.

That's a right bargain! Yeah, it's the clearest night for ages here and humidity is uncommonly low too. Bit chilly though.

Heading out in a few minutes. Night lasts until 0600, so I can get at least an hour in. Might just take out some binos though.

Best night for ages tonight. No work tomorrow, the Moon's only a few days old, the temperature has risen a bit, the air is still and the sky is clear!

I'm out having a go at M100.

I've got a Google Meet session going so I can keep an eye on proceedings from indoors!
