Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with Sale Telescopes: http://www.sale-telescopes.com ? They are apparently based in Singapore and Indonesia, and they have an extensive catalogue.

Their prices are very low: in fact I suspect too good to be true. (eg: Fujinon 10x50 Polaris FMT-SX listed for $US395, compared to ~$US700 at a "local" Australian store... or Questar 3.5 Duplex Pyrex MF for $US2997 vs $5350 at Astronomics.

Has anyone had dealings with them? Experiences?

Dean, this is not a reputable site. The prices ARE too good to be true, and the VERY extensive purported in-stock inventory is impossible.

The fact they list all telescope manufacturers is a good indication it is not legitimate.
Besides they are supposedly selling telescopes that have not been made in decade(s).

they are supposed to be in a complex, in the directory of that place, there is no SALE TELESCOPES.
with the address given, nothing.

As expected... The CN links are interesting, and indicate they have been going for quite a few years, so something must be working for them!

Sadly, they seem to know what they are talking about; they appear to have done their research. In which case, why not run a legitimate operation?
Oh well, it takes all kinds.

A legitimate operation takes actual work. Pretty easy to set up a website and copy and paste photos and product descriptions easily found online. They actually have not done such good research: as Lady Frankfort says, many of the scopes haven’t even been made in decades, which looks suspicious right away to anyone knowledgeable.

Some of these products have limited availability in the best of times, and these are not the best of times. They couldn’t obtain most of the things they have listed as being in stock if they wanted to. And if they did have them, given all the problems with manufacturing and shipping since COVID arose, they would certainly have no need to sell things 30-40% or more below retail. They could sell them for more, like people, on eBay are doing.

They are targeting inexperienced, trusting people. I don’t think it takes all kinds. This kind is trash. Who needs it? Glad you asked before taking a chance with those crooks.

Also just want to curse predictive spelling: that was supposed to be Lady Fraktor, not Lady Frankfort, for cryin' out loud! I spied it too late to edit the post.

I noticed it but was laughing to hard to change it.

From what I read, I understood that the Sale Telescopes is not a company at all, but just some crooks. It said somewhere, that they only accept wire transfers as payments. To my knowledge some people have made orders, but no one has ever received anything.

Massive scam. There are a lot of sites like this. Generally if there's no physical address they probably aren't trustworthy.
