I was out looking for hawks one afternoon in May when I noticed a jet contrail high in the sky. It was a rare occurrence around here at the height of the pandemic. Then I noticed that it was casting a shadow on the lower cloud deck. Since I had the camera out anyway, I thought I should snap one off.

Oh, and the hawk did finally show up after a while. This one had been hanging around the neighborhood since Winter, but was being very elusive about being photographed in flight. I had one good afternoon with it in May.

My hiking buddy (daughter) caught this with her cell phone. She really likes the bee's trajectory "into the photo".

The last of the 747 jumbos leaving for retirement . Flying over my home yesterday as it said goodbye with a flyover of the first jumbo that arrived in OZ 50 yrs ago. It is resting in the local Aircraft Museum Here

The concluding flight will occur on July 22nd at 04:00 UTC. Undeniably, this day will go down in history for the airline.

After flying to Los Angeles, she will make way to the Mojave Desert in California. There, she joins the rest of the Qantas’ 747 planes. Twelve of the airlines’ A380s are also in hibernation at Mojave. The hot and dry desert is an aircraft graveyard, where the iconic VH-OEJ will possibly be stripped of its parts and fly no longer.

I drove to Mt. St. Helens in Southern Washington. It's a three hour drive from my house. I wanted to capture the Milky Way over the mountain.
Clear Sky Chart stated there would be about three hours of good conditions. The skies were clear all the way.
Once I arrived and began to set up, a couple small clouds began to move in. That is generally not much of a problem. Clouds can often produce some nice effects.
Unfortunately, the clouds began to get bigger. So, I decided to shoot a couple of stitched images.
By the time that it got dark enough to start shooting subs for the Milky Way, a major fog bank rolled. That was a bust.
It wasn't a total loss. I did manage to get some nice shots of the mountain.
This is a 15 panel stitch shot with a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens set at 70mm.

Hello all. Here is a photo of some early Bird of Paradise plant blossoms. I wanted to get a picture before Hurricane Isaias comes through and may damage things here in Florida this weekend.

You can read more about this tropical plant here, at:

I hope that you enjoy this photo, and have a great weekend.

Hi all. Well, Hurricane Isaias spared us here in Florida awhile back, with only moderate winds and no rain (although I had a lot of tree branches and twigs to pick up later). I went out and caught some closeup images of two mature Bird of Paradise plant blossoms this afternoon.

I hope that you enjoy them and the best of regards.
