Thank you Andrey.

Here in the 'sunny south' of England we are generally two weeks ahead of the northern part of the country as far as flowering goes.

We have had some pretty mild temperatures recently, which encourages new growth to appear. Also, we are getting lots of Bumble Bees flying around, which is also a good indication of Spring arriving.

It really warms the heart and soul to see such colourful displays when we walk around our garden.

We don't have bumble bees here, but the buzz of honeybees is sure sign of spring.

Some jailbirds recently staged a breakout. Found some of them malingering in my back yard. It was obvious as soon as I stepped out that I had intruders in the backyard who had no business being there. I took a couple of pictures of the intruders to help with ID. I asked my neighbours and they confirmed that the escapees were their former prisoners that had staged the escape.

Hi all. It is mating season here for the white Ibis birds here. I got a good photograph this morning to show their color changes at this time. These white Ibis birds are showing all the characteristics of breeding season, with a nice closer view of one of them (left mouse click up on image for more magnification). The bill and legs turn bright red and there is a bright red gular sac (or wattle) at his chin. His bill is also blacker at the end.

I hope that you enjoy this capture and explanation while enjoying the beauty of nature.

These images are of a White Tailed Kite. It is a veritable aeronautic, capable of covering a half mile in the blink of an eye, and hovering in precise location for a minute or more. On this blustery day with cumulus clouds scudding overhead, it was a sublime sight.

My birdbath strikes again! (see the Rosella in post #601). This time one our local Magpies (the Aussie Magpie, not the northern hemisphere version) appreciated me cleaning it out this afternoon. It is about 30°C at the moment.
Taken through my rather grubby window (don't tell my wife: I feel a job coming on!).

I love the way the splash on the right (in the above photo) mimics the shape of the bird's head!

Hi all. Again keeping with the spring season topic, here is a photo of our new Caladium shoots rising up this week:

When fully grown they produce beautiful heart shape leaves (also called elephant ears) like this mature Caladium:

Being an Aussie, I always find it weird seeing white swans! (For those who came in late, they are black in Australia!)

Here is one I took many years ago along with a pelican landing:

I knew swans there were black before my trip there a couple of years ago - but seeing one was weird - since as you said - ours are white! Mute, Tundra, Trumpter - all white.

And when we were in Cairns, at low tide there was a group of pelicans in the mud flats - I will dig out a photo later today. :)

Hi all. Well Mother Nature moves fast in the spring. I just posted our new Caladium shoots on 3/23 here, so I went out to look today and saw that one has already unfolded a beautiful heart or elephant ear shaped leaf:
Caladium3.JPG
Also in our herb garden in the back yard, we have beautiful blossoming Spiderwort (also called Tradescantia) plants. The flowers only last a day, but there are so many buds on each plant that there are replacements every day for up to 8 weeks.
We have some near our garlic chive plant:
Spiderwort1.JPG
And a short distance away near our birdbath:
Spiderwort2.JPG
I hope that you like these photos and enjoy a great spring.

Hi all. I want you to meet "Rocky". He is the friendliest of the 3 squirrels that patronize "Grampa's Place" (along with all of the Ibis and other birds and 2 rabbits). It is hard to hold the camera, focus, and frame a close up picture while keeping the squirrel interested in the bread (plus they move quickly). Here is the best shot that I could get at breakfast time this morning:

I hope that all of you enjoy this "furry friend" picture.
