This isn't a photo of mine, but a still from a video series that was in a newspaper review. It has remarkable color, like in a painting!

Hi all. I caught this just before the rain started (and we need it) during the afternoon "fly in" here at Grandpa's Place.
How am I going to fit into this bird bath?:

Sophia and I went for a walk around Beaulieu this morning. The weather was perfect - hot, dry and sunny.

We walked through an area called Gurnetfields Furzebreak, which is a mixture of woodland and heathland, and has the Beaulieu River running through it.

Reflection from the wooden footbridge over Beaulieu River.

At this time of year the New Forest Ponies have their foals alongside them. Absolutely gorgeous :romance-heartstiny:

Southern Damselfly (mating couple) on the river (and a nice reflection).

There is a prominent memorial stone erected on the top of the heath.
P1010293.JPG
The inscription reads: "This stone is erected to mark the spot where S Carter was killed whilst hunting with the N F hounds 16 Jan 1883"

The inscription now is very hard to read as it has suffered the ravages of time.

I sat out in the back yard today for a bit, and Sasha came out with me and decided to be "plant-myself-kitty" with the plants...

There was a dandelion seeding near the tree; I never knew how intricate these were.

I flipped it to a negative image, and my first thought was a patch of Dark Matter and the CMB behind it... I gotta stop watching documentaries!

Hey all. Last month my wife and I spent a week on Curaçao. After some issues, I am finally able to post some photos. I won't bore you with all of them  as there are quite a few, but I will probably have a few posts of them. Sorry in advance. ;)

This is the view off the back of the house. Note - this patio is unusable during the day as there is no shade, so it is in FULL sun in the 80+ degree heat, and is black tile so you have to have shoes on to use it as well. Other than that, it was nice!
20220514_0271.jpeg
The view down into the water from the patio.
20220514_0272.jpeg
There's an awesome natural cave formation called "Halo Caves". This is me in the caves, and some formations. At one point the tour guide tuned off the lights - it was very, very dark ;)
20220515_0289.jpeg
20220515_0292.jpeg
This guy was living on the roof of the house next door to the house we stayed at. Green Iguana is a food source there. I tried it once, and it is pretty good, at least prepared the way I had it.
20220516_0348.jpeg
The Queen Emma Floating Bridge in the process of opening, and partially open to allow small boats to pass to the sea. It has to open fully to allow large container ships in and out of the docks.
20220516_0395.jpeg
20220516_0398.jpeg
This is apparently a famous shot of the island, these are buildings in Punda, taken from Otrobanda.
20220516_0408.jpeg
These three are from Christoffel National Park - some cacti - the island is very arid, they do not get much rain. The second is Mount Cristoffel, which is hike able, but you have to do it before 10am as the heat gets too high to do it later. The last is Boka Grandi, a nice little inlet. We did see a Snowy Egret here, but it is not in the photo.
20220517_0427.jpeg
20220517_0451.jpeg
20220517_0477.jpeg
I'll be boring everyone more with more photos in the next few days or so. :)

It looks like a lovely location Brett.

That cave looks particularly spectacular (an escape from the heat too ;) )

Yes there are! We could've went down the stairs to a ladder and right into the water - but we instead chose to walk the 5 minutes to the beach near the house and snorkel there. Saw some great life in the water there too. I'll post some pics of it at some point too (we also have a GoPro). Saw a couple of eels there off the beach, which we were amazed by.

We also took a private charter out to a protected bay called Fuikbaai and snorkeled along the mangroves that circle it - amazing numbers of fish there.

Levens Hall garden, Cumbria, England. The world's oldest topiary garden, started in the 1690's.
The UK flag was actually upside down. It is easy to know which way is correct, just look for the "Made in China" label!

This one looks rather sinister!

Hi all. This project started 5 weeks ago with a small flat of four 3" tall sweet banana peppers from our local plant store. The plants are supposed to be 12" apart, but the garden along the side of our house was already filled with my herb plants and Sheri's flowers. Plus, I wanted to keep these plants on the patio so I could easily tend to them, so I spaced them as far apart as I could in a very large patio planter pot. After 3 weeks of absolutely no rain, I hand watered them every day (along with our other plants), weeded, gently hand aerated the soil, and used Osmocote time release fertilizer pellets. We finally have had some heavy rain here the last few days which really which helps (our lawn too). Well, it all worked out and now it's time to start harvesting the earliest ones:

A few months ago a roadrunner was found around Boston - turns out it was a stowaway in a cargo truck from somewhere in the SouthWest.

A local to Boston animal rescue took possession and arranged for transport back to the little guy's native region.

Vanessa, you seem quite capable at species-level identifications. Do you post your images and IDs to iNaturalist? Their web pages would be well-graced with your pics--they're quite nice.
