It was a good night before the fog set in so I went with the 3 x focal extender to give me 3000mm FL - even with the good conditions and the moon at 45 degrees I think I'm probably at the limit here at what I can acheive with this equipment (200mm Skywatcher Newt + 3x Focal extender + GPCAM290M).

First up is Anaxagoras and J Herschel (I love those ejecta rays!) :

And finally Copernicus:

Those are great pictures! The detail is just fantastic as well! I have to ask, are those just single shots or tracked?

Well done regardless, and all the best,

I should have put that in the post! All 'lucky imaging' - best 200 of 5000 frames shot with a GPCAM290M, pre-processed in PIPP, stacked in AS!3, wavelets in Registax (the first two didn't require much sharpening at all) then into Photoshop for final tweaks (cropping, levels etc.).

Great James, I think we were dodging the fog on the same night. Super detail there, and amazing on the Gassendi shot. You must have got your focus spot on. Congrats on the APOD.

Hi James. As a lunartic I really enjoyed your fine images. Excellent surface details and Crater Copernicus really shows off it's central peaks and collapsed walls. Thanks for sharing these nice close-up captures with us James, and congratulations on winning the TSS APOD Award.
