Celestron big binoculars

Here is my one and only rant. I urge any and all to avoid buying any big binoculars from Celestron until they decide to get their act together on colimation. I read WAY too many comments on returns, just to have another bad pair sent out. I love their scopes. The 20x80 binoculars are notorious for bad collimating. Considering their generally good name in the industry, this is a 😭 shame. If you insist on ordering these, order 4 pairs and keep the best ones! In the medium price range, look at Oberwerk Orion, or Barska. Maybe Celestron will get the message!

I did have to collimate my 15x70's awhile back. I was starting to get double images. They came collimated from the factory but gradually it got worse. I sat down and collimated them using a youtube video which showed you how to pry up the rubber parts and get at the screws. A bit of a problem admittedly. I also have a pair of Oberwerks which did not need any collimation.

I got my Celestron 20x80s at a freight recovery store, so I was able to check them first. They have not need collimation since.

Yeah, this has been an ongoing problem with the 15x70s. I’m not surprised that the 80s have the same problems. Some people have great experiences with them and others not. Unfortunately, my experience was a not.

In the last 10 years or so I have collimated two sets of 15x70 and a set of 10x50 Celestron.
Once done they hold collimation well.
Unfortunate they have to be done at all. Shipping issues or just poor assembly?
