Most unusual phenomenon yesterday around noon. Patches of light blue briefly appeared in the sky. They were quickly replaced with normal gray fuzz though, so no cause for alarm.

Were back up to +13c, next week -8c. Clouded over, the usual yoyo weather.

I don't know about that "no cause for alarm". That brief patch of sky made me want to go open my dome for spring. I had to tell myself, "Easy boy, that sky is just messing with you."

After a month of absolute garbage weather, skies started clearing last night so I was able to do some lunar observing this morning with my 72ED. That was a good start to February!

After nine days of clouds and rain, a bit of a break this morning - saw the bow or shield of Orion, the triangle of faintish stars marking his head and emerging from behind the trees his belt. Should I get the scope out when M42 would be positioned for observing?

An hour later I stepped out and the clouds had returned. We are supposed to have six straight days of partly cloudy weather so I am hopeful of an opportunity here...

I've given up on any observing this winter, absolutely the worst winter for clouds and crap weather that I can remember, I haven't seen a star in 3 months. Telescopes and tripods are all put away in the shop.

I bought a 3D printer to play with instead, and I have 2 car projects to work on as well.

As Monte Python said in one of their animated clips...."Bloody weather".

Print off a astro picture of choice, hang it on a wall and view it through your telescope.

The UK Met Office is predicting clear skies starting around midnight tonight. Trying to remember what that looks like. I'm working remotely tomorrow, so no need to rush if I observe in the morning.

The Norwegians were wrong quite often in January. That was surprising as they had been the most accurate until then.

Clear yesterday afternoon, clear for a short time last night, then clear for a short time this morning, clear now. Maybe it'll hold until 2200-2300 at least.

Similar here, clear last night so I opened the observatory roof, got on target, focused and plate solved then the clouds rolled in. Stayed cloudy till bed time then it cleared a bit. Couldn't be arsed by then! Got up at five, clear as a bell! Leo was sinking in the West and Lyra was rising in the East.

WOW! Look at the forecast for our area, it's been so long I forgot what the sun looks like...hope the twinkly things appear tonight, I'm scrambling to get everything setup and ready to capture Orion's nebula, my first serious DSO session.
