Not Good
Well I got a chance to test them out tonight - I got a very short break in the clouds around where Jupiter was so I took advantage of it. Sadly, I got a bit more than I bargained for, TWO distinct Jupiters one above the other  Before I ordered them I noticed some people in the reviews had similar problems and I was hesitant to order them but there were a lot of good reviews as well
I'm going to send them back to Amazon but I'm not sure I'm going to opt for a replacement pair. I may hold on for a while and get a better quality pair later as I have two car licence plates to renew and insurance renewal coming up in July.......
I hope you have better luck with yours chicagorandy!!!!!!

If it works - Yay! - if I fail? Won't be a personal first - lol - and back to Amazon it goes. But definitely worth at least giving it a go to a no-cost DIY alignment. It's GOTTA be less hassle than collimating my old 127EQ beastie.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.
The older I get, the better I was.
Celestron Nexstar+ 127 SLT, several budget plossl eyepieces, Celestron 8-24mm zoom EP and a 12.5mm illuminated double reticle EP, Svbony SV205 camera w/.5 focal reducer, Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 binos on a 40 yr old QuickSet PanHead tripod, Stellarium, Sharpcap and ManyCam on my laptop, SkyView and Nightshift on my phone and a dandy little $9 red-light flashlight.

Not so good at all. I'm sure it's a pain but try not to settle at this quality point. make certain you get a good instrument or opt for a more reliable mfg.AbbN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 3:36 am Hi,

Re: Not Good
I like your thinking Abb, go big or go home! I owned Oberwerk 15x70 LW before. They are basically quality controlled Celestron 15x70. You put them next to a premium binos or look through them side by side and the difference is clear. If you can save up for a better quality, I would take that route.AbbN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:56 pm I know how to collimate them but the trick is to do them at night looking at a star. I had about a 5 minute break in the clouds if that last night and it may be at least another week or longer before I may get another crack at the sky They seemed to be OK when I got them when I looked way down the street but when I pointed them at Jupiter and a couple of nearby stars that's when I saw double

Send the others back, get a refund and put it away. Save a little more and get the ones you're looking at, they are GOOD binoculars!AbbN wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:56 pm

True. Here are the Oberwerk 20x80's - https://oberwerk.com/product/oberwerk-2 ... eluxe-iii/ and because of our Canadian dollar value I have to add 25% to that!Bigzmey wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 9:39 pm I like your thinking Abb, go big or go home! And the Celestron 20x80 Pros with similar specs - /
Maybe I should forget the binos since my cheapie Bushnell 10x50 binos (which I got a few years before I got my first scope) work quite well and instead add an

Re: Not Good
I got a very short break in the sky (thank you merciful?? cloud gods ), took out a couple of small screwdrivers and mounted the binos on my tripod, aimed the binos at Jupiter and took a crack at collimating them before sending the back. After 3 attempts I got it!!! And then about 30 seconds later the clouds covered up Jupiter. Oddly I had to re-adjust the diopter for my eye again but that didn't matter.
Wheeeew, close call! I guess they're not going back huh
