iOptron is typically quite good at replying so hopefully you hear something soon.
The issue may be something as simple as a loose wire in the hand controller but if you still have a active warranty I would not open it up without their permission first.
This will at least stop from voiding your warranty.

In the meantime, welcome to the forums and let us know how things progress with it.
Enjoy the site in the meantime :)

Take some Isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip to clean all of the contact points for the cables and mount.
They may have slightly corroded over time.
A careful scrub may be all it needs at the moment.

I have it's predecessor - the Mini-Tower. That first beep should be followed by the hand controller lighting up and displaying GPS coordinate information/time, etc. So if it's not the connectors being dirty, it may need a factory recall. :(

That could be an issue, when you replace the battery leave the mount plugged in for a few hours to make sure it gets charged properly.
Hopefully this is the issue.

mmm a battery, huh? I will have to check my HC on my mini-tower. It's been 7 months since I had the mount out. Thanks for reminding me to check that battery.

bpmc wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 1:12 am Alright. I just got home and slapped the little 3volt button cell onto a volt meter. Not surprisingly, it reads only about 180 millivolts... about 1/16th of what it should. Thank goodness Amazon's got a limitless supply of the part number I need ("CR1220" for anyone who's interested) delivered to my door by tomorrow evening. Who knows; maybe I'll have this thing operable by the weekend!

Put it in and turn the power on for a few hours.
Normally it will charge them a bit and things run properly.

I believe the hand controller uses flash memory for the basic information/ programming. The battery also powers the real time clock for the mount.
It is starting to sound like the LCD display has died, hopefully not though.

There is always the option of purchasing a new hand controller from iOptron if the mount is working.
Have you heard from them yet?

That is excellent news!
Always good when the manufacturer steps up and deals with issues.
Enjoy the mount and lets us know how it progresses, we do not have much information on these mounts here.
