Hi all. I had a really nice stretch of clear skies and good seeing lately so I was able to finish the Elephant trunk nebula in SHO. It could have used a bit more Sii but I'm fairly happy with it.
Taken with the VRC-8 and CCDT reducer at 1200mm with the QHY163m
Sii - 69 x 300sec - 5hrs 45min on June 9
Ha - 116 x 300sec - 9hrs 40min on May 21,29,31
Oiii - 160 x 300sec - 13hrs 20min on May 22,26 June 4,6,7
Total 28hrs 45min
C&C always appreciated, Thx for looking.

That's a beauty Alex. 28+ hours, really!!? I'm so envious. That's a couple of months worth of data for me.

Your time on target produced a marvelous detailed look at this closeup view. Well done.

Thank you Steve. It's the first time I spent that much time on a target. I was fortunate to get quite a few clear nights but the biggest difference was that I now image all night and go to bed. I wake up if SGP sends me an SMS text if the sequence is interupted. This way I have sometimes been getting 5+ hours of data a night.

I think thats fantastic. This is one of my favourite DSO's although I've not yet tried to capture it. Its at the top of my list for when it gets dark again here but limited to HaRGB i guess it will not be close to as good as this.
