Is their a favorite format out their that people like best to build a mount for a Dob?
With new tech (Stepper Motors redaly available that are used in 3D printing) their should be easier ways now to build a platform to place a Dob on their. Even to make adjustments to alignments while taking pics like the Sun/Moon. The Dob Knob can be a pain to smoothly center the object.

Not putting any money to a new scope, if anything a GEM mount and thats allot of cash.

An EQ platform is meant for tracking. So you will still have go align the Dob manually. If you are near the target then you should be able to use the controls (if it has any, most likely not) to get closer. Once you are on target it will stay there. But since EQ platforms don't have controls, usually, you can't use controls to get closer.

Of course you can build your own, make it dual axis and add a control pad to your self computerized system. I did that for my 10" Dob, it worked fine.
