Needle Galaxy (with a touch of NGC 4562)

My new powerhouse threadripper desktop finally arrived. I have been collecting data with my new ZWO ASI2600 but my laptop kept crashing due to the large file sizes. So, here is my first one capturing the Needle Galaxy and NGC4562 in the lower right slightly visible. This is 3 hours total integration (120s guided suns) on a C11" EdgeHD @ f/7 and an Optolong L-Pro filter.

Excellent image Bruce! You mentioned that your old computer kept crashing due to the large file size. I’m thinking of getting an ASI6200MM and that’s what I’m worried about, even though my iMac has 32G of RAM.

The i5 core processor on my Dell laptop just kept crashing after stacking only 2 frames. So, I bit the bullet and bought a 64MB RAM, 32 core AMD Threadripper desktop. Cost me a small fortune becuase I did not trust myself to build my own computer. Each frame is like 50MB and when you start piling this on and using PixInsight to calibrate and post-process, you get GBs of data. My new computer does all of this within 20 minutes. I know the ASI6200 you are thinking of has the same challenges as I talked to a few folks who bought it. If you get one, I'd love to see your images. What I have seen is pretty amazing.

BTW- love you convertible. I have a bright orange Jaguar F-Type convertible.
