M27 Dumbbell Nebula

I was going back through my image files and came across this previously unprocessed single-frame of M27. It's from 7/7/19. I remember that day shortly after the 4th celebration as hot, hot, double hot and sweltering. The evening wasn't much better. I'm glad I dug this out of the ol' archives. Unfortunately, with an unmodified DSLR, I'm not able to "pick out" the redder portions of the rim of this DSO.

Thanks, Michael. Yeah, I guess the coldness of space is quite a contrast to our terrestrial oven. One wouldn't think central Illinois would get all that hot with the nearby Great Lakes and Canada to the north. I guess that's what I get for thinkin'!

Absolutely hot Henry!

It is sickeningly hot here now. I’m sick of it already and it is in early July! No clear skies either!

Your image is super! I did manage to catch a bit more of redness on the fringes of M27 a few years ago shooting unguided with an un-moddified dslr, but it took 50 minutes of stacked subs to get it.

Thanks, Jim. Looks like an imaging window next week (sans Luna) but it's going to be as "hot as a firecracker" here in central Illinois with increased humidity. It's going to feel a lot like my old stomping grounds in July … Houston, TX! Fortunately the evenings should be in the 70s.
